Frequently Asked Questions

Where is therapy provided?

Therapy is provided within a private office located within Bolivia Office Suites at:

3972 Business Hwy 17E Bolivia, NC 28422 | Suite D2

We also offer mobile speech therapy services, meaning that services can be provided within your home, or at an agreed upon community location.

How is outpatient therapy different from speech therapy at school?

Outpatient speech therapy focuses on building and supporting a child's functional speech and language skills related to your family's needs, various activities of daily living, and a child's independence. School speech therapy eligibility has different requirements, one being that deficits must have an academic impact in order to be eligible for services.

What age children do you service?

In order to ensure the highest level of care is provided to patients, we typically serve patients between the ages of 1 and 10 years old, depending on the child's history and needs. If you are wondering if we are the right fit for your child, please complete a free consultation request!

How long will my child need speech therapy?

Due to the individualistic nature of therapy, it is not possible to say how long a child will need speech therapy. Every child's experience with therapy will be different and be dependent upon the child's needs and family's goals. However, it is my experience that children with strong support systems and family involvement tend to make progress much faster.

Do you take insurance?

Currently, we accept NC Medicaid, Blue Cross Blue Shield NC. We have contracts pending for Aetna, United Health Care, Humana, Cigna, and Ambetter of NC for in-network benefits.

If we do not take your current plan, we can provide Superbills for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement of services. â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹

What does a therapy session look like?

Therapy sessions focus on embedding strategies for language or target words for speech production into activities the child is interested in. The therapist will follow the child's lead throughout the session while adding structure within the child's ideas. A lot of times this may look like "just play", but that is the point! Play is a natural way for children to learn and retain new skills. When children are playing, they are learning.
